Description

A budget-friendly, easily upgraded short-wheelbase crawler built on Axial's proven and much-loved SCX10 II chassis — agile enough for twisty trails, yet still ready to take on serious rock work straight out of the box.

The Deadbolt name has a long history at Axial, and this version carries it forward on a chassis that's had years of real-world refinement. A steel C-channel frame with cross braces and a contoured skid plate keeps things rigid, while single-piece AR44 high-pinion axles improve driveline angles and ground clearance compared to a standard low-pinion setup. The LCX AX10 transmission is genuinely adjustable, with an optimised 3.75 gear ratio that reduces torque twist through the driveline.

One of the Deadbolt's biggest strengths is how easily it adapts: the 12in wheelbase can be stretched to 11.4in or 12.3in with optional link kits, letting drivers tune the handling for tighter technical trails or more stable high-speed running. Combined with Method 307 wheels, Nitto Trail Grappler tyres, and a chassis-mounted adjustable servo position, it's a genuinely solid foundation for a first build or a first upgrade project.
