Nitro Engines, Fuel & Spares

Nitro Engines and Nitro Fuel

Nitro engines and fuel are commonly used in remote controlled (RC) vehicles, particularly in RC cars and trucks. Here are some things to know about these products:

1. Nitro Engines: Nitro engines are internal combustion engines that use a nitromethane-based fuel. These engines require a glow plug to ignite the fuel and air mixture and provide power to the RC car's drivetrain. Nitro engines come in different sizes, ranging from .12 to .28 cubic inches for RC Cars. However sizes of .55 to 1.05 for RC Helicopters. They are more than capable of providing high speeds and acceleration.
2. Maintenance: Nitro engines require regular maintenance, including cleaning, tuning, and replacing parts as needed. It is essential to follow the manufacturer's instructions for maintaining and operating the engine to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Nitro after run oil is a good solution to use in cleaning.
3. Nitro Fuel: Nitro fuel is a specialized fuel that is used to power nitro engines. It is typically a mixture of nitromethane, methanol, and oil. The percentage of nitromethane in the fuel determines the engine's power and speed. The higher percentages providing more power but also requiring more maintenance.
4. Fuel Ratio: The fuel ratio refers to the ratio of fuel to oil in the nitro fuel mixture. The most common fuel ratios for nitro engines are 16:1 and 20:1. It is essential to use the correct fuel ratio to avoid engine damage or poor performance.
5. Safety: Nitro engines and Nitro fuel can be dangerous if not handled properly. It is essential to follow the manufacturer's instructions for use and storage. Nitro fuel is highly flammable and should be kept away from heat sources and open flames. Nitro engines can also produce heat and exhaust fumes, and it is essential to use them in a well ventilated area.

Nitro engines and Nitro fuel can provide high speeds and acceleration to both RC Cars and radio controlled helicopters. These will require regular maintenance and careful handling. With the right equipment and knowledge, you can enjoy the thrill of nitro RC vehicles.
