Description
The FTX Outback Fury 3.0 is a 1/10 scale 4WD trail crawler that comes ready to run, and this version is finished in Red. Rather than chasing speed, it's built around a two-speed crawler transmission and locked axles, so it can pick its way over rock gardens and steep climbs rather than just bashing across flat ground. About the FTX Outback Fury 3.0
The Outback Fury 3.0 is a dedicated trail crawler rather than a fast basher: everything about the drivetrain and suspension is set up to keep the wheels in contact with the ground at low speed, rather than to go quickly in a straight line. It arrives fully assembled and ready to run.
A steel C-channel chassis carries a shaft-driven 4WD system with a servo-operated two-speed transmission, giving a 41:1 low range for technical crawling and a 20:1 high range for covering ground more quickly, with a reverse-drive layout that cuts down on torque twist. A 6.5mm steel multi-link suspension system and locked front and rear axles, combined with 73mm of ground clearance, let it climb over obstacles that would stop a lower, open-diff vehicle.
Drive comes from a 540 20T brushed motor and a waterproof Hobbywing WP1040 ESC, steered by a 15kg waterproof metal-geared servo and controlled over 2.4GHz. It's supplied with a 7.2V 2000mAh NiMH battery and USB charger, and also accepts 2S-3S LiPo. Because it's a low-speed, technical vehicle rather than a fast one, it rewards patient driving over rocks and mud more than open-space bashing, and it's best appreciated on genuinely rough ground rather than a smooth driveway.
