About the Huina 1/14 Scale RC Excavator

This is a scaled-down construction excavator rather than a bashing vehicle, built to recreate digging, bucket and cab-rotation movements rather than outright speed. A realistic cab with a built-in LED light and a sound module add to the scale feel.

Rubber caterpillar tracks can be driven independently of one another, which lets the excavator turn on the spot and manoeuvre the way a real machine would, and the hydraulic arm and die-cast bucket handle digging motions with a reassuringly solid, heavy action rather than a flimsy plastic feel.

Power comes from a 7.4V Li-Ion battery good for around 30 minutes of running, recharged in about 120 minutes, and the 2.4GHz radio has a control distance of up to roughly 100 metres — far more than you'll need for the slow, close-up digging play this model is designed for. The transmitter also has programmable functions for repeating or sequenced actions, so there's more depth here than a simple point-and-drive toy, though it does need its own 2 x AA batteries to run.
