This is an unassembled 1/8 scale race kit rather than a ready-to-run vehicle, aimed at competitive or experienced racers who want to build and set up their own truggy from the ground up. It can be built as either a nitro or an electric truggy from the same rolling chassis. Because you're sourcing your own motor, radio, servo, tyres and, for a nitro build, engine, on top of the kit price, it's a bigger project and investment than a boxed RTR truck.

About the TLR 8IGHT XT/XTE

The 8IGHT XT/XTE is Team Losi Racing's 1/8 scale, 4WD race kit, built to be assembled at home rather than run straight out of the box. It's designed around a single rolling chassis platform that can be built up as either a nitro-powered truggy or an electric one, using the same suspension, drivetrain and chassis parts for both.

TLR revised the suspension geometry and drivetrain layout for this kit versus its predecessor, shortening the wheelbase and fitting flex-tune suspension arms, an Ackerman-adjustable draglink steering rack and machined aluminium shock towers. The chassis itself is a 3mm plate, chosen to save weight, and the battery box is built to take LiPo or Li-ion packs on the electric build.

Because it's a bare kit, you'll need to add your own electronics and running gear: a transmitter and receiver, steering servo, tyres and glue, and paint for the bodyshell are needed whichever power system you choose, plus a brushless motor, brushless ESC and 4S LiPo pack for an electric build, or a nitro engine with tuned pipe, throttle servo, receiver battery and starter box for a nitro build. This is a kit for someone who already knows how to build and set up an RC car rather than a first truggy, and running costs, particularly on the nitro side, are higher than an electric RTR.
