LiPo batteries for RC cars, helicopters, planes and boats.
LiPo batteries (Lithium Polymer) are the go-to power source for most RC models, whether helicopters and cars or planes and boats. These rechargeable batteries offer a high energy storage-to-weight ratio and high power discharge rates. AT Models stocks a wide range of LiPo batteries, so you can match the cell count, capacity and connector to your model.
Shop by cell count
The S number is how many cells are wired in series, and it sets the voltage. Match it to what your model and speed controller are rated for.
- 2S - 7.4V - 1/16 and 1/18 cars, park flyers, receiver and transmitter packs
- 3S - 11.1V - the most widely used size, 1/10 cars, mid-size helis, sport planes
- 4S - 14.8V - brushless 1/10 and 1/8 cars, larger helis, FPV racing
- 6S - 22.2V - Kraton and Talion 6S, 1/8 buggies, 600-700 class helis, fast boats
We also stock 1S, 5S and 7S packs for models that need them.
The brands we stock
Gens Ace across every size, hard case and soft case. Radient for good value general-purpose packs. Maniax for receiver, transmitter and high-discharge packs. Plus Spektrum Smart and Traxxas iD batteries for models built around those systems.
Why LiPo rather than NiMH
A lithium polymer battery uses a solid polymer electrolyte and a lithium electrode, which gives a high energy storage capacity relative to its size along with high power output. Against NiMH you get the same energy or more at a fraction of the weight - which matters on anything that flies, and matters on the track too.
Charging and safety
LiPo packs need a balance charger, not a plug-in NiMH charger. Charge on a LiPo-capable balance charger, never unattended, store at around 3.8V per cell rather than fully charged, and retire any pack that swells or is punctured. See battery chargers and LiPo safety bags. If you have any questions about our LiPo batteries, please contact our team, who'll be happy to help.
