Indoor machines are small and light enough to fly in an ordinary room - a sports hall, a garage, or a living room with the furniture pushed back. That matters more than it sounds: you can practise on a wet weeknight rather than waiting for a calm weekend, and practice is what actually makes a pilot.

What suits indoor flying

Small coaxial and micro collective pitch machines, with enough weight to stay controllable but little enough momentum that a wall or a lampshade does not end the session. Blade, Align T-Rex and Goosky all make genuine indoor-capable models.

Coaxial or collective pitch?

Coaxial machines are the gentlest - two counter-rotating rotors keep them very stable, at the cost of not being able to do much beyond hover and fly gently around. Collective pitch micros can perform real 3D in a confined space, but need more skill.

Where to practise

A room with clear ceiling height and nothing fragile within reach. A sports hall or a village hall, if you can find one that allows it, gives you far more room than a lounge.
