XLPower Exchange Program - Get a new Model out of your old model helicopter

Getting a new model helicopter can be expensive, so XLPower have found a way to get you a new model at a cheap price.

Come forward the new Nick Maxwell NME Kits, bit electric and Nitro and both up for grabs, along with the XLPowr V2 Kit, and the one of the most size Helicopter Classes, the 550x Nimbus

XLPower Nimbus 550x

The XLPower Nimbus 550, the latest in the 550 class helicopter series, incorporates successful design principles from the Specter 700 series, resulting in an aesthetically pleasing, lightweight, and robust airframe offering extensive customization options for appearance and flight preferences.

At the core of the Nimbus 550 is a single-piece 7075 aluminum bearing block assembly and servo mount, providing exceptional rigidity to the frame and drivetrain. The main shaft is supported by large double-row angular contact bearings, enhancing durability and ensuring prolonged operational life.

The cyclic servos, arranged in a 120-degree layout, optimize control geometry and motion across the entire control range. Two kit versions cater to pilot preferences, featuring a choice between mini cyclic servos for reduced cost and weight or a standard size cyclic mounting bracket with a third main shaft bearing block to accommodate more powerful servos. Both kits utilize a standard size tail rotor servo, and the cyclic servo size mounting assembly is easily interchangeable with minimal parts. Mounted on high-quality 2.5mm thick carbon fiber upper frames and lighter 2mm lower frame plates, these components offer unmatched frame strength and crash resilience.

The battery tray system, akin to the Specter 700 V2, allows loading from the front or rear, supporting an optional quick-connect system for instantaneous power-up/down without canopy removal. Compatible with standard configurations up to 12s power systems, the battery tray adds versatility to the Nimbus 550.

Engineered to handle powerful power systems, the main gear hub features two one-way bearings for reliability in extreme power combinations. A rigid motor mount directly fixed to the frame's main support structure minimizes flex under load, and an optional second motor shaft support bearing further enhances rigidity.

A standout feature, shared with the Specter 700 V2, is the use of a large diameter tail boom (27mm for Nimbus 550) without the need for boom supports. This not only boosts tail performance but also presents a sleek appearance. The tail servo and control rod, mounted in the upper frame, elevate the vertical CG, improving flight characteristics.

Every detail has undergone rigorous testing to ensure optimal performance and functionality. Features such as sacrificial blade grip arms designed to yield in a crash, a one-piece tail box for simplified assembly and tail shaft bearing replacement, a damped tail rotor system ensuring smooth operation at high RPM, and a low, wide landing gear for enhanced ground stability all contribute to an exceptional helicopter, reducing the likelihood of tip-overs during autorotation and hard landings. The Nimbus 550 is a testament to meticulous design and proven performance, offering pilots an outstanding flying experience.

XLPower Specter V2

Over the past eighteen months, our dedicated team has meticulously crafted and tested a revolutionary 700 model tailored for all pilots. The result is the XLPower Specter V2 helicopter, boasting exceptional 3D performance, streamlined assembly and maintenance processes, and a durable lightweight 700 platform accessible to all. Collaborating closely with world champion pilots, we continuously refined and enhanced the Specter V2 to exceed expectations.

Distinguished by a 10mm reduction in rotor head height compared to the Specter V1, this helicopter enjoys improved vertical mass distribution and agility. The Specter V2's rotor head features a double-row angular contact bearing system, ensuring unparalleled bearing life and smooth operation. Innovatively eliminating tailboom supports, it adopts a 32mm diameter tail boom for a sleeker appearance and remarkably rigid design. Simplifying the third shaft bearing support arrangement facilitates quicker and easier rotor head installation and removal.

The redesigned battery tray, now rear-loading, eliminates the need to remove the canopy for LiPo pack installation. An optional upgrade includes a built-in connector in the tray, enabling automatic power-up upon battery insertion.

The gyro tray relocation to the front simplifies wiring, enhances cleanliness, and reduces vibration transfer to the gyro. The Specter V2's wider and lower landing gear contributes to reduced tipovers during autorotations and rough landings.

Equipped with a wide 8mm custom tail belt for extended lifespan, the Specter V2 features larger tail belt pulleys (100T/20-21T) to decrease bending radius, improve belt longevity, and minimize drag and power loss—particularly noticeable during autorotations. The default 15mm thick main gear matches the V1 airframe, with an optional upgrade to an ultra-heavy-duty 18mm gear for an almost indestructible power train.

A noticeable change in the Specter V2 is the relocation of the tail control rod to the top of the tail boom, allowing the tail servo to be mounted as high as possible, enhancing the vertical Center of Gravity. Positioned opposite the center cyclic servo, this configuration provides a clean symmetrical appearance.

The Specter V2 retains the simplicity of the one-piece billet aluminum tail box, optimized for easy assembly, quick maintenance, and a reduced part count. A newly introduced super-lightweight tail fin further reduces unnecessary weight. The default 21T rear pulley offers a 4.76:1 ratio, with an upgrade option to a 20T pulley for enhanced tail performance at low head speeds. The larger pulleys increase tooth contact, significantly reducing the risk of tail belt slip during extreme tail loads and reversals.

We are thrilled to introduce the Specter V2, an incredibly versatile platform catering to collective pitch beginners and extreme 3D pilots alike.
