XLPower Specter, Nimbus and MSH Protos kit helicopters.
XLPower RC Helicopters
XLPower build pod-and-boom competition machines from 380 through to 700 size, in both electric and nitro. They are known for clean engineering and strong value against the European brands - you get a serious airframe for noticeably less money. These are pilots' helicopters, aimed at people who already fly rather than people learning to.
The ranges
Specter - the 700 class, including the 700 V2 in electric and the NME nitro version. Competition and demo size.
Nimbus - the 550, in electric and nitro. A popular mid-size choice.
MSH Protos - the Protos 380, 480 and 700X, covering small flybarless machines up to full competition size.
Electric or nitro?
Both are available across the range. Electric is quieter, cleaner and quicker to get airborne. Nitro gives you an engine to run in and tune, longer flights per tank, and the noise that goes with it. See nitro helicopters for the engine-powered side.
Kits, not ready to fly
XLPower machines are sold as kits and airframes. You supply the motor or engine, speed controller, servos, flybarless unit and radio - which means you build it, you understand it, and you choose the components. That is the normal route at this level, but it is not a machine to buy as a first helicopter. See flybarless controllers and servos.
Which size?
380 and 480 for smaller spaces and lower running costs. 550 is the sensible middle ground and where most pilots settle. 700 is full competition size - more stable in wind, considerably more expensive to run and to crash. See RC helicopter sizes.
Spares
We hold XLPower and MSH spares along with main and tail blades. See also all RC helicopters.
