XLPower Nimbus 550 V2 Nitro powered 550 class RC Helicopter Kit NO Blades

The XLPower Nimbus 550 V2 Nitro is a 550-class nitro helicopter kit for .50–.55 engines and 550–580 mm main blades. It is the second version of the Nimbus 550 Nitro, pairing the control geometry of XLPower's electric Nimbus models with a nitro drivetrain. Supplied as a kit without blades, it is aimed at advanced pilots who want a compact nitro 3D and sport machine that is straightforward to maintain.

The structural core is a one-piece 7075 aluminium bearing block and servo mount, with three cyclic servos in a 120° layout. The 7075 aluminium rotor head uses 1:1 control geometry, and a new upper swashplate with longer outer swash balls balances cyclic and collective differential. V2 changes include a pre-balanced tapered clutch (taken from XLPower's Nitro 700) to cut vibration and extend bearing life, a longer engine shaft for better axial stability, a reworked start coupling with the starter cup no longer sitting inside the bearing so the clutch is less likely to loosen, and the tail pitch lever system from the electric V2 for stronger tail authority.

XLPower states that the V2 runs with lower vibration across the rpm range, smoother spool-up and a steadier hover. The engine comes out from the bottom of the frame and the fan shroud detaches from the side, and quick-connect canopy locks replace safety pins, which keeps field maintenance quick. Standard gearing suits 550–580 mm blades, with an optional 8.5:1 ratio for 650-class setups.
