SAB ilGoblin 590 Helicopter Kit with Blades

The SAB ilGoblin 590 is an electric 580-class helicopter that takes the Goblin line a step further. It is aimed at experienced pilots who want a mid-size machine with the ilGoblin look. It runs on either 6S or 12S. SAB designed it around stiffness, a stronger gearbox and simpler maintenance, so it works as a sport and 3D machine for pilots moving up from a 500/520-class helicopter or down from a 700.

The side frames are 1.2 mm high-density compressed carbon. The canopy and tail boom are high-rigidity compressed carbon. At the centre is SAB's overbuilt "Eternal" gearbox, with an oversized one-way bearing mounted directly on the 10 mm main shaft. The main shaft runs on three bearings, and the tail shaft is 6 mm. The cyclic servos sit vertically for a cleaner, more aerodynamic layout. Because of where the motor and secondary shaft are placed, changing the motor belt is quick. The rotor head is a new design. It uses technopolymer dampers and titanium blade screws with self-centring titanium washers. Batteries load from the rear on a tray, so the canopy stays on between flights.

Mini cyclic servos keep the weight down, and mounts for standard-size servos are available if you prefer them. With 580 mm blades the main rotor is 1242 mm across. The 590 accepts main blades from 550 to 590 mm, so you can tune it for anything from a softer sport set-up to hard 3D. This kit comes in SAB's orange ilGoblin scheme, with SAB main and tail blades.
