EDF Jet Planes Vs. Turbine Jet Planes: Which is Better for You?
What is the difference between RC EDF jets and RC turbine jets? The main difference lies in the power source.
An RC plane with a ducted fan (EDF RC plane) is powered by an electric motor. The motor drives a fan unit (the EDF unit), which generates thrust. Typically, the electrical power comes from rechargeable batteries.
Turbine jet planes, unlike EDF planes, don’t rely on electrical power at all. Instead, they use a miniature gas turbine like the ones used in real jet planes. The engine usually consists of multiple parts, including:
